Tell me we don’t live in a police state.
Tell me we don’t live in a police state.
“For the second year in a row, more American soldiers—both enlisted men and women and veterans—committed suicide than were killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
This has happened in every US war starting with Vietnam.
I get really condescending when people tell me that I should ‘support the troops’ and stop being a damn hippie. It eludes me how, by any stretch of the imagination, endorsing the cause of death (self-inflicted and otherwise) for thousands of men and women is supposed to ‘support’ them. But I’m just a hippie and an Econ major, so obviously I never learned how to read the human and monetary cost analyses. Probably that damn public schooling I got.
Milton Friedman- Greed
One of my most favorite videos.
This comment on it from youtube sums up my thoughts completely:
“He (Milton) was man of integrity. I have never seen him slander someone. Maybe contradict their opinions but he never insults their intelligence or their back round. He was such a fantastic man. Thank you Milton, you did more than teach us about Economics… You taught us about ourselves.”

Fake or Real? Where are your tax dollars going?
To verify these:
The “Ron Paul isn’t libertarian enough for me so I’m going to take my ball and go home” crowd is stupid. I respect your opinion, & choice not to vote. But don’t dive-bomb the dude’s campaign by bitching and moaning all over the internet because he’s not the image you want. Why? Because if not him who? Do you care more about your own self-interest/self-importance? Or do you actually NOT want to live in a tyrannical society any more. Wait, don’t answer that.
I’m so glad you brought this up because it has really been bothering me, too. Maybe Ron Paul isn’t the picture-perfect libertarian that some of you are dying to see in office, but beggars (and yes, at this point we ARE begging for liberty and individual freedom) can’t be choosers. Ron Paul will do more for liberty than any president (in the last 100 years) has done and any candidate could do if elected. Being a libertarian and preaching against Ron Paul is saying that you don’t want a libertarian in office…because he’s our best shot.
Dont’ forget, however they hate us because we’re such a great and powerful country! That’s right, this sort of stuff does nothing to incite hatred, and produce more terrorists, just listen to Rick Santorum, they hate us just because we are the “greatest country in the world.”
Police Officer Goes Crazy When He’s Told He Needs a Warrant to Search Car
Know your rights! Don’t allow cops to search your car or home. Never talk to police officer without a lawyer, even when you’re not under arrest.
Wowwwww. This guy’s insane.
but most of the libertarians I have ever met in real life, and I am being dead serious, are always the kinda people who seem somewhat spoiled and come from a very well to do background, but they just want to buck the system(which I am all for).
I honestly have never met in my actual life one…
Hi, I am a poor libertarian. No, not just an angsty middle-class WASP. My family’s income is around $12,000 (only recently has it gotten that low, but despite my mother’s JD, she’s chosen abnormally low-paying, crappy government jobs since I was born) and I can barely afford to go to my state school (my 529 is the only thing getting me through, along with grants, with my income covering just my living costs). My mother is originally from the Texas panhandle and was literally so poor that her family never bought her glasses—she bought herself her first pair when she was 17 and legally blind (not too surprising that she broke her nose twice before… she had to get that fixed in her 30s). Her parents didn’t have the money to feed all six of them, so she had to rely on the private charity of friends’ families. She worked her way through law school with no assistance.
Somehow she’s big government (probably from being the government, even after dealing with and complaining about the mind-numbing inefficiencies), but I am very much a Barry Goldwater libertarian. I’m anti-taxes, anti-handouts, anti-bailouts, for deregulation, etc. So nice to meet you, I’m a poor libertarian.
